To get the most enjoyment out of taffy treats, you need to know how to store taffy properly. The following are six things you should know about storing your taffy.

You don't have to refrigerate taffy if you'll be eating it within a week.

Taffy that you will consume quickly can be left out at room temperature. Don't worry about refrigerating your taffy if you'll be eating it this quickly because refrigerating taffy can make it overly hard and less enjoyable to eat.

Taffy that will take longer for you to eat can be refrigerated to stay fresh for a couple weeks.

If you won't be eating taffy for over a week or so, you can put it in the refrigerator to keep it fresh a little longer. However, you probably should give your taffy some time to warm up after you take it out of the fridge and before eating it.

Taffy can stay good longer if it is frozen.

You can keep taffy longer than a couple weeks if you freeze it. Your taffy can stay good for several months if it is frozen. You'll just have to give your taffy some time to thaw before eating it.

Taffy stored in humid environments can be refrigerated briefly before it's eaten for convenience.

If your home is very humid, you might find that taffy gets very soft and difficult to handle when you store it at room temperature. In this case, try refrigerating your taffy briefly before taking it out so that it hardens up a bit for easier handling.

Individual pieces of taffy should be wrapped in a material such as parchment paper or cellophane.

If you want to store taffy, it's important that you wrap it properly. Wrapping your taffy keeps it clean and prevents pests from getting at it. Wrapping taffy also prevents taffy from drying out.

It's best to wrap each individual piece of taffy in cellophane or parchment paper. Another option for wrapping taffy would be wax paper.

Putting individually wrapped taffy pieces in an airtight container is also a good idea.

Minimizing air exposure is an important thing you can do to prevent taffy and other candies from getting dried out. You might want to put wrapped taffy in an airtight container to keep it in even better condition while in storage. Use plastic or glass containers with a tight seal to prevent air exposure.
